New Construction – Gothic Revival – Naples, Florida

Situated directly on a cove that was cut from Naples Bay, this new home was designed in the Rural Gothic style of the 1850s. The architect incorporated all the period elements of the early Victorian period, including high pitched gables and bargeboard. The owners wanted to color the stucco in an historic period set of colors and highlight the wonderful architectural detailing.

Gothic with some modern

The owners added enough “gingerbread” for the house to look authentic.  They even added roof cresting and finials to heighten the vertical nature of the home’s design.  The house had modern features such as a terrace and the pool.

Goal & Solution

Goal

The owners wanted to color the stucco in an historic period set of colors and highlight the wonderful architectural detailing.

Solution

An historic medium olive was chosen for the body, a muslin for the bargeboard – to highlight the lacy effect of the trim.  A period red was chosen for the windows and second period green was employed for special accent areas.
