Georgian Colonial Revival, Newton, Massachusetts

This is the second house I’ve completed for this client.  It’s really great to work with a repeat customer!  The house was on the  Newton Historic Society’s 30th Annual House Tour on June 3, 2012.  “Thank you very much for your help in making the house come together so beautifully!” Steve

LEED Gold certification

The project included this new below ground garage that fits seemlessly into the site.  Every phase of the work was directed toward being environmental friendly.  Photographs by Greg Premru Photography

Goal & Solution

Goal

Many houses in New England are painted white, but that is not the only option. This owner wanted something more striking, but in keeping with the homes colonial past.

Solution

Not all colonials were colored white or off-white. Historical research shows a wide variety of darker body colors on these early 20th century homes. The house color is a bronzy green with a light gray trim. The window are an Arts & Crafts period red. The colors came from an historic period paint catalogue and were matched to a modern fan deck.
